In 2001, I was asked to lead a youth mass at St. Joseph’s Cathedral in Sioux Falls, SD. At the time I was in college at South Dakota State University working on my music education major and was excited for a job leading music in the church. As the youth program and the band evolved we called ourselves “Stained Glass” because of the amazing windows in the Cathedral. It was unique that we would be performing contemporary worship/rock music in such an amazing setting but that is where the Spirit led us. The group evolved into this great group of musicians and friends: Todd Krier, Guitar/vocals, Bill Sealey on Drums, Carly Lacroix, Vocals/Bass, Emily Liable on piano, Randy Lundblad on bass and guitar, and Jim Slattery on Lead Guitar.

As the youth mass/group came to it’s end, we decided to form Synderesis. A band inspired by the music of Evanescence, Jeremy Camp, Metallica and many more. We wrote in the style of Evanescence with a little bit of an edge but positive and life-giving lyrics.

I moved to Drums (the instrument I started as a young child), Bill moved to lead guitar/vocals and Carly moved to our lead vocals and a little piano. It was a short time in our musical journey but we had a ton of fun writing and recording this music.
